Anyone in an Intro to Media Industries' course should know about the TV Markets, called "designated market areas," or DMAs.
Please examine the 210 DMAs and familiarize yourself with the top 10 markets.
You should know the top 5 by heart:
1. New York
2. Los Angeles
3. Chicago
4. Philadelphia
5. Dallas-Ft. Worth
You might also want to scan the list to find your home market.
As a general rule, the closer you are to the top, the higher your salary in local TV (news, sports, weather, production, commercials, syndication revenue, etc.)
