Please post an introductory paragraph

Greetings,

Your first "task" is to sign in to Sakai and post an introductory note to this message. The basics will suffice (name, major, hometown, year in school, and maybe something about yourself that you'd like us to know).

I'll go first--

My name is Jack Powers and (as an undergraduate) I double-majored in French and Mass Media. I'm from Cleveland (I'm a big sports fan and baseball is, by far, my favorite sport. How much do I love baseball? I subscribe to the MLB.tv package so that I can get access to EVERY SINGLE MLB game in the United States, though I mainly watch just the Cleveland games. If you're not a sports fan, then you might not realize how difficult it is to be a Cleveland fan, but trust me when I tell you it's painful. When you're from Cleveland, you expect all of your sports teams to collapse in the playoffs).

You should also know that I'm a media junkie-- television, movies, sports, news, politics, social media, novels-- I love it all. Oh, and I watch way more TV than any person should. My favorite shows, though not original, include The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Family Guy, 60 Minutes, CBS Sunday Morning, Colbert, Big Mouth, Rick and Morty, The Simpsons (old-school), Fargo, Homeland, Modern Family, Friends, and Seinfeld. 

As an undergrad, I went to a liberal arts college not that much different than IC (Mount Union College, the DIII football powerhouse). I earned my master's degree from Ohio State University and my PhD from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University.

As for something about me that I'd like you to know? I love my job. I know a lot of people say that, but I really, really mean it.
